In a significant restructuring at Google, India-born Sundar Pichai has been named the new CEO of the technology giant as the company co-founder Larry Page on Monday announced the formation of a new umbrella firm Alphabet, of which Google will be a part.
Page, in a blog post, announced the formation of the new parent company Alphabet, of which he will be the CEO and Google co-founder Sergey Brin will be its President.

Mumbai: Less than a year back, Sundar Pichai told Mint in an interview that he had "definitely big shoes to fill" when referring to his new role as Google Inc.'s senior vice-president of Android, Chrome and Apps. He had taken charge from Andy Rubin who was co-founder and former chief executive of both Danger Inc. and Android Inc and senior VP of mobile and digital content at Google until March 2013.

NEW YORK: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google's Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt and other technology executives today congratulated India-born Sundar Pichai on his "well deserved" elevation as the new CEO of the search giant.
Mr Pichai, 43, was named CEO of a newly organised Google, becoming only the third chief executive of the company after Mr Schmidt and cofounder Larry Page.
